About the anthology
It is happening all around you. It’s happening to you. Do you even notice?
This collection of stories explores moments of transitions, times when realization dawns or paths diverge. Instances when there is movement, forward or backwards. Transitions is the language of the heart and mind. It colors our perceptions and emotions from humorous to tragic, from inspirational to cathartic, from revelational to questioning.
At what point does a child recognize they’re an adult and maybe their parent is not? Can eating noodles kill you? Would you get a tattoo? What if a therapist could parachute to your aid during especially difficult times or there was a machine that could tell you what would make you happy? Would you use them?
How important is Valentine’s Day when you have a significant other? What do you think about as you wait on standby after missing your flight? How long would you wait at bus station in the desert? What’s the difference between being left brain or right brain? Could you take up running? Is your neighborhood evolving? How would handle the death of a parent?
Can you tell the difference when you’re lying or speaking the truth? What if something was constantly whispering in your ear? How would you handle that annoying customer or waiting in line at the DMV or if a squirrel bit you?
Does the past dictate who we are? How do historical figures like Harriet Tubman or University alumni donors affect us today? What about our mothers, fathers, or family from another country? Does reincarnation exist? Can good deeds erase the bad?
The size of the transition is not always proportional to the transformation. The heart may hear a whisper louder than a shout or one glance can change your entire world. So enjoy the shades of these short stories and see how they transform you.
